Mike Mason

He's not mad.

I love the way Mike Mason writes of this in his book, Practicing the Presence of People.

Isn't that a good title? How much freedom do you want? Do you want to be completely free of shame and guilt? And know that you're respected, cherished, and loved without limit.

Do you want to be free, to be fully outrageously yourself? Do you want to be exactly who you are, no strings attached? If this is what you want, then begin by setting your God free.

All others are just, like, tons and tons of hours spent by really brilliant people to deliver on these bases.

What's awesome about this, uh, we have a whole episode where we talk to, uh, Mike Mason, who's one of the original designers of Dark Heresy, and is now, uh, doing Call of Cthulhu.

And Mike Mason was talking about how a lot of the things that he designed for Dark Heresy have ended up influencing Call of Cthulhu, which is another game that's very deep into deduction and investigation.

And I can say with some authority, having led Dark Heresy through the majority of its, uh, first edition, that in, in the investigation side was always, like, implied.

It was always something that was, was part of the game, but was never foregrounded in the way that we wanted to.

And there's a lot of reasons why that was.

Uh, the, the base book got rushed.

You could go check out our episode about Mike Mason if you wanna hear some of those stories about the origin of Dark Heresy.
