Mike Mangini

I bumped into one of them backstage a minute ago.

Yesterday, I met Mike Mangini.

Oh, really? Who's the drummer of Godsmack right now, but he was in Dream Theater for a little bit, so that was super cool for me.

Oh,

What he meant, he says, was that it was probably the last time you're ever gonna hear anything new from the original lineup, and the original lineup is gone.

shannon larkin and tony rambola retired from the road at the end of 2024. sam colton is on guitar wade murph did a dozen shows on drums this spring before leaving abruptly and since june the drummer has been mike mangini who spent 13 years in dream theater we needed him and it says because it's so hard to replace someone like shannon so why a record two reasons and he gave both i'm under contract and i owe another record anyways and I want to do a record with these guys because I'm curious to see where it goes.

No title, no format, no date beyond 2027.

I'll give him credit for honesty.

Sully and the band are getting ready to headline the Mohegan Sun Arena this weekend, which is the site of the band's most recent live album and the site of the final performance of retired drummer Shannon Larkin and guitarist Tony Rombola.

I talked to Sully about the new additions in the band, including guitarist Sam Colton and drummer Mike Mangini, formerly of Dream Theater.

We talked about the new members, the backstage antics, and the famous Godsmack drum battle.

Plus, we talked about the upcoming Aerosmith and Friends shows, being a girl dad and working on new music in 2027.

Just stop.

If we could

find a way to harness Mike Mangini's energy, you could power a city with it.

Yeah, yeah, totally.
