What should folks do with doubt?

Actually, I have a lecture that if they go to my YouTube channel, I've got a playlist with several videos on dealing with doubt.

But just to break down just a few principles, I don't know that I can remember them all right now, but number one, doubting is normal.

You had people like in the Bible, you had Abraham.

He doubted after God promised him he'd make a nation out of him.

He doubted several times, but his faith grew over time.

You had John the Baptist at one point.

What would you say to my friend here who's watching?

So this is sometime in the mid-second century, so maybe 100 or so years after the gospels are written.

Well, that's just the manuscripts.

Now we can look at ancient attribution.

What were other people of that period saying? So our earliest one is a guy named Papias, and he's writing somewhere between the years, let's say, 105 to 135.

And Papias, now he wrote five volumes of the oracles, the discourses of the oracles of the Lord, which have... disappeared.

We don't have them anymore.

You got many ancient authors that mention it, but they've been lost.

What internal evidence do we have? What external evidence do we have?

I love Behan McCullough.

Um, he would be more along the lines of, we can't show Jesus rose from the dead.

And I've expressed my, my disagreements with him, um, and he, uh, I mean, we've had private, uh, communications, um, but I probably relate to him more than I do any other philosopher of history because he's very methodical, he's very clear in the way he communicates, uh, he's deliberate, and I just like him.

He's an Australian, uh, historian.

So he proposes a number of criteria of, to be used in arguments of inference to the best explanation.
