So Wagner at this time was gearing up to do some more Grendel, uh, and told Karen Berger that he needed someone to take the load off and co-write with him.

So Siegel had done a series called the Amazon with Tim Sale and Tim Sale knew Wagner and And I remember when I was researching for Madman, Mike Allred saying that Siegel was the first comics creator that he had ever met.

So it's kind of a community in the indie comics world.

It's always been who you know.

And he's just got like...

Like he'll tell you himself, like he's a Mike Allred acolyte, [laughs] but he's got such a...

It's his own style, but it's definitely Allred inspired.

Uh, and Nick just has such a great eye for comedy and comics and incredible character design, and he's also like one of the nicest dudes in the entire world.

But, you know, they came out with us for Chasing Amy when we did the fake comic cons and whatnot.

So they were there for that in our world and did one of the covers for the fake comic books in Chasing Amy as well, like alongside Mike Allred.

And so, you know, at that point they knew, in all the interviews I've done, I talked about loving Frank Miller's Daredevil run and blah, blah, blah.

So they reached out to me, Joe and Jimmy were like, hey man, how about you write Daredevil for our Marvel Knights imprint? And I was like, oh my God, I would love to.

I will say in defending Dan Slott here, I did not like the beginning of this series very much.

And it only made it three issues.

And it's one of those that every time I've responded to someone saying, what book would you want to work on? I'd say, I either want to work on Mike Allred's Madman, or I'd want to work on J.

Scott Campbell's, and I'd always tag him, and Campbell would always reply, like, I found the one who bought the books or

something.

Um, they gave little hints about things for a while, which I really enjoyed, and they really got into the commercialization of Concrete as an idea, which, uh, I mentioned Booster Gold did that too.

But when I was reading it, I was getting a lot of X-Force, uh, Peter Mulligan and Mike Allred's X-Force.
