Might and Power

The valley makes that race.

I mean, we've had the Turnbull, we've had the Might and Power, we've had the Caulfield Stakes or the Underwood, whatever they're called.

So in a way, it's just another wait for age race over around 10 furlong.

But it's not at the Valley.

Absolutely nothing.

What was your favourite race? Cox Plate memory at the old Moonee Valley.

Well, if you look at the winners, which, you know, have been on repeat all week, but you can't ignore the fact that, say, you think won a couple of them, Winx, Northerly, Sunline, Might and Power, Saintly, Kingstontown.

These are the absolute superstars of Australian racing.

What's his best chance in the race?

Well, look, if Land Legend can repeat the performance out of the Might and Power, it's probably it.

And with good reason as well.

But I think we'll leave Land Legend alone.

Miles, just quickly, because the news is on our doorstep, your first, second and third tips.

My first on top, I've got Birdman.

He's been set for this, comes through the might and power.

Yep.

And not the worst, though.

And we blazed our money, we pooled it all together.

We were betting irresponsibly, there's no doubt about that, and we backed Might And Power and he went on and won by eight lengths.

We caught up with Jimmy Cassidy last week.

We shared that tale.

And, uh, [laughs] at 4:24 PM I get a message from Buckets, "Sugar, your Might And Power story just happened with me and me mate.

Oh, we're on Tempted." Half an hour later, "Me and me mate's just had a Might And Power moment with Tempted." Like different messaging, Buckets.

Do you want me to add to it?

But you'd think that probably the most likely progression for him, if he is to keep going throughout the Spring Carnival, is probably to run on the last day at Flemington in the Champion Stakes.

He's proven though, Nick, that, uh, that weight for age form through the Underwood and the Might and Power is certainly very good.

And the Underwood Stakes, what a, what a race it's been.

So Birdman, of course, your winner, but Cosmic Crusader came out of it, won the Turnbull.

But I, I, I've said it for a while now, I think he's a better horse, um, when he's ridden conservatively.

He doesn't have to be stone cold or anything like that, but just in behind a few and he's able to build into a race, and that's where we've seen, um, he, him be at his most successful.

And I went to the Might And Power last week thinking that if we could run third it would probably be like winning, and if we walked away getting beaten two or three lengths, we were right on track for where we were going, and we got beat a length and three quarters.

So, um, yeah, I left Caulfield last Saturday pretty happy with my horse.

He doesn't have to be stone cold or anything like that, but just in behind a few and he's able to build into a race, and that's where we've seen, um, him, him be at his most successful.

And I went to the Might and Power last week thinking that if we could run third, it would probably be like winning, and if we walked away getting beaten two or three lengths, we were right on track for where we were going, and we got beat a length and three quarters.

So, um, yeah, I left Caulfield last Saturday pretty happy with my horse.

Yeah, it was a sensational run there, given [laughs] he had to do a lot of the, uh, the donkey work to, to cut up the field at stages there.
