Hey everyone, welcome to a special race edition of our Bikes and Big Ideas podcast.

Blister reviewer Zan Martian was out at the Soldier Hollow XC World Cup in Midway, Utah, and he's joining me for a recap of the exciting race scene action, plus his thoughts on the track, 32-inch wheels, and what makes Bjorn Reilly so popular.

Dan, you were our man on the ground at Soldiers Hollow this last weekend.

I mean, the scene overall.

Yeah.

I mean, since I mentioned Nika racing, like you got to understand that, like, you know, we're in Midway, Utah.

This is like tucked behind Park City, basically, if you're not familiar with the area.

Okay.

Heber Valley is composed of two or three cities, known as Heber City and Midway.

We're gonna be starting in Heber City.

You're gonna be hitting a kind of a main street type of feel in old town America, and there's a restaurant I recommend called Dairy Keenen, K-E-E-N-

You're gonna wanna put your best cowboy hat on and kind of have that cowboy feel to it, definitely.

Okay.

We're gonna go a little bit west to the neighboring city called Midway, Utah.

This is a Swiss-inspired mountain escape town, and this is about 20 minutes from Park City.

... uh, um, then yeah, so not a ton.

I am gonna go in two weeks to Utah to the World Cup Mountain Bike Race in Midway, Utah.

That's right.

And that will be fun to watch hopefully.

So manifesting, I don't know how many of you were paying attention to like the solar eclipse and the lunar eclipse in August.

Um, I get so frustrated because every time we have these sky events, it's cloudy here in our little town of Midway.

And I'm just like, what is happening? But I was bound and determined to see the lunar eclipse like a week ago.

And we were trying to – it was so funny because now that the twins are back in school and they're getting up super early, we've been getting up really early, which is great.

That way, if I'm on the square with my family or we're volunteering in the food booth with our church group, I can make sure that I'm here at the house when you would like to come.

So for those of you that don't know, my address is 233 East 300 North.

obviously in Midway.

Um, but why are you an example that, that anybody from anywhere, you know, c- can, uh, achieve their dreams? You know, why, uh, you know, 'cause I think a lot of athletes, you know, there's obviously the, the skills aspect to it, right? You gotta have the talent.

But, you know, how does belief come in and, and why can you be an example of, hey, you know, it doesn't matter where you're from, doesn't matter if you're from Utah, doesn't matter if you're from Midway, doesn't matter if you're from Provo or Farmington or wherever you're from, you can achieve, you know, the things that you want to, and you can go on and, and be a player in the National Hockey League.

Like, it, you don't even...

And I'm, I'm a kid that, you know, is, I'm about to live my dream soon.

Um, I just got lots of stuff I still gotta do.

Um, and it makes other kids believe, 'cause, you know, if they see me, kid from Utah, Midway, Utah, that is gonna play in the NHL one day, they would have belief in themself that like,, "Hey, I'm from Utah, you know, maybe one day I can be a music artist or, you know, something, an, an actress or, you know, I'll run my own business." Like, I could be, I could be a, a person somebody looks up to, not just for hockey.

Like, it's, that's the, that's the crazy part is it's, it's I can affect other kids out there that aren't just hockey players.
