Middleburg

Uh, I, uh, I'm, I'm gonna be seeing, uh, quite a few of these movies in two weeks.

The Middleburg Film Festival just announced their slate, and, um, I'm, uh, among the ones I'm gonna be hoping, I'm hoping to see are Fjord and The Debut.

Uh, I, I sent my list to you, Dan, and you said my Friday was gonna be amazing, and my Friday is Tender Loving Care-

Yeah

Your mom is gonna love Wicker.

[laughs]

I, I cannot, I c- uh, my mom has been, my mom, ever since she saw the trailer for this, she's like, she sent it to me, and she's like, "I have to see this." And then when I was like, "Oh, and guess who's gonna be there," 'cause Olivia Coleman's gonna be at Middleburg this year, uh, which is, uh, fantastic.

And what's actually interesting is what you were speaking about is that, um, Jack O'Connell will be there.

But they have a incredible lineup.

I mean, they have a ton of the awards films coming, and then the r- rest of this month also has, um, Savannah and Middleburg and what else? I mean, a few other, Virginia.

There's a lot of local-

There's a lot.

Yeah.

So the, the, the main, uh, operations barns are actually in Middleburg, Virginia.

Okay.

I live myself in The Plains, which is the, the next town over, uh, probably, like, 10 minutes away.

So the, the main barn, so nowadays we have, uh, different units, different barns, so there is actually, uh, I believe seven barns total.

Oh, wow.

And so, yeah, so five of them are in the Middleburg area.

Two of them are, uh, in The Plains, uh, 10 minutes away.

Our own cavalry were concentrated at Warrenton and Catlett's.

On the 17th, Fitz Lee's brigade was sent forward from Piedmont to Aldie, via Middleburg, to anticipate our troops in holding the gap there, it being considered important to occupy the Bull Run range of mountains as a screen for Lee's further operations.

Fitz Lee's brigade was supported by that of Robertson, which was moved to Rectortown, where it was also available as a reserve to W. H. F. Lee's brigade which had gone forward to occupy Thoroughfare Gap.

No opposition was anticipated in the latter place, Pleasanton having moved to Centerville with his main body.

Safeguard Veterans.

Stuart made his headquarters at Middleburg on the 17th.

Fitz Lee halted near Dover to close up his command, and sent his pickets on to Aldie Gap.

It's the place where despair is not an option.

Hey, Tom, great to talk to you.

We have a lot of different cheeses from all around the world and a lot of different artisan local cheeses from our local makers.

We get some from Middleburg, Virginia, and then we get Martinsburg.

West Virginia.

And then we also just had somebody else come in, a new person come in, and so we're going to be tasting their cheese.

Like there's a big concentration of places in Falls Church and Rockville and Silver Spring.

But I think we stop at like Annapolis and Middleburg, I would say, Frederick.

All right, since you're the expert, I have to ask you to weigh in on a little personal, I won't call it an argument, but I got into it.

I got into a back and forth with somebody on threads who was like, the DC area has no hidden gems.

Like, it's all about, again, meeting them where they are, but also just really having that emotional intelligence.

And for those of us in the room that have, um, you know, I spend a lot of time with my mother, who's 70, who's like, I'm setting up her massage business in Middleburg, Virginia right now, and she's, like, not tech-savvy.

And every once in a while, I'm like, "Oh, wow," like, "no, like, you're, like, really, like, you don't know how that [laughs] works." Like, it's very illuminating.

Not everyone is at the same playing field with these skills.
