But then you have the group of Mid Pines, Southern Pines, Pine Needles, also Whispering Pines, which is just opened and is amazing public course.
RobbieHOST

You got Tobacco Road Tile Farms.

I'm throwing that entire...
Kyle FranzGUEST

Yeah, just a really cool project we've had going for about a year now.
Kyle FranzGUEST
1:37
So Kelly Miller and the Pine Needles Southern Pines, Mid-Pines family and team purchased the Whispering Pines property about a year or so ago.
Kyle FranzGUEST
1:51
Everything finally became official, as well as the Foxfire property across town.
Kyle FranzGUEST
1:57
And...
Kyle FranzGUEST
2:01
I'm a big fan of Ellis Maples.
Kyle FranzGUEST
2:03
I'm a big fan of any of the history here in Piners.
Kyle FranzGUEST
2:06
You know, having worked on the restoration of Piners No. 2 for Core and Crenshaw, which in turn led into my projects that I've done for Kelly and team here, you know, between it was first Mid-Pines and then on to Pine Needles, perhaps for the Senior Open and Women's Open, and then on to Southern Pines.
Kyle FranzGUEST
2:22
And I just love everything about the courses here, the Ross's history here.
NickHOST
6:36
For the green fees they charge, I probably wouldn't rush to go back, and that's not to say it's not worth the money.
NickHOST
6:43
It, I thought it was worth the money, but there are other amazing courses in the area that we didn't get to play, like Pine Needles, Mid Pines, Southern Pines-
RyanHOST
6:49
Yeah
NickHOST
6:49
... whatever, that I would probably like to play before I play that one again for the same price.
Mike KoprowskiGUEST
47:22
Uh, that, that this is a business at the end of the day, and that, you know, you, you need to be respectful to the client and make cost-effective decisions.
Mike KoprowskiGUEST
47:32
And, and Kyle really has, you know, done a master class in that in his work at, at Mid Pines, Pine Needle, Southern Pines.
Mike KoprowskiGUEST
47:39
Um, I mean, Kyle has, has pulled off unbelievable stuff at a very, very reasonable cost.
Mike KoprowskiGUEST
47:43
And so that was, that was a value that Kyle, you know, bestowed on me early on that, look, that, you know, we're having fun out here, but this is a business.
JonathanHOST

And so,
RobbieHOST
1:57
yeah, as much, as much as we both love Pinehurst, like less, like less than five minutes, you're in Southern pines and the courses there, the mid pines, pine needles, Southern pines.
RobbieHOST
2:09
I've gotten to play mid pines and pine needles.
RobbieHOST
2:12
I have not done Southern pines yet.
RobbieHOST
2:14
Um, But Kelly Miller and the group he's a part of, they have now acquired and have redone with the help of Kyle Franz, who we had on as well, Whispering Pines.
Kyle FranzGUEST
6:42
His name was Tom Doak, wound up going on to be a pretty decent golf course architect.
Kyle FranzGUEST
6:47
So I read Tom's books and just begged and pleaded for a job when I was in college at Pacific Dunes down at Bandon, and he was nice enough to give me a shot, and away I went from there.
Kyle FranzGUEST
7:01
I worked for him for several different projects, and that allowed me to meet Corin Crenshaw, work on the Bandon Trails project as well in between jobs for Tom, and that led to me working on the restoration of Pioneer No. 2 here, and that's how I got to know – kelly and the miller bell mcgowan family everybody here and uh you know i i was handling a lot of history and research for the ponder server 2 restoration i just kept coming across great photos of uh pine needles and mid pines southern pines and uh So we started talking about doing a project, and I threw together some photo shops back in the pre-AI days where I had to draw it all out.
