Yeah, nursing and now, uh, women's soccer becoming something we're known for here at MoWest.

And, uh, a lot of eyes, I think, should be on this match Friday because it is an MIAA tournament championship rematch with Central Oklahoma on Friday night at 7:00, Northeastern State at 1:00, and that is a tournament semifinal rematch with the RiverHawks.

Now, scouting these opponents, UCO 3 and 3, and they played Southwestern Oklahoma State Saturday.

Broncos beat the Bulldogs 2-nil.

... with Friday night, exciting weekend.

Um, I guess, do you feel that there's a target on your back given that we're playing two teams whom season we ended last November?

Uh, I mean, I think all the MIAA games are, are like that.

Sure.

Now, never to this extent.

But I've even been to Division II, where the MIAA has plenty of replay opportunities.

Yeah.

clocks and all that other stuff that comes with it and television broadcast booth and all that sort of stuff too.

I'll take a look at the KCAC.

I'll take a look at the MIAA, and that's actually where I'm going to go.

I'm actually going to give it up to a team that is located in Emporia, just a stone's throw away from here.

But an impressive win for the Hornets of Emporia State.

Emporia State doesn't get a point on the board in the second half, but they were able to bottle up that Pitt State offense, limiting the Gorillas to 279 yards.

I know that seems like a, a lot, but obviously it was good enough for them to get the win against a top 10 team in Pitt State.

So my Beast of the Week, I give it up to the Emporia State Hornets from the MIAA.

He obviously got plenty to work on.

His first, you know, as I, as I told the staff, I said, "For a guy that's didn't play last year for us and was playing D2 ball two years," I go, um, "Long Island was probably could be-- could have been the best competition he's played against." Now, the MIAA is a very good football league, as we well know, so and well respected and, and, uh, but for him, uh, um, to get out there and really play for the first time, I, I thought he did a, did a very solid job.

He's gonna continue to get his opportunities.

I think I've said it in here before, he's probably the most improved football player on our team, and it's, and it's really a great thing to see a guy who's worked to change his body, increase his strength, but more importantly, the time he's put in to learn the game and, and, you know.

But as it pertains to women's soccer, SWASU, that's a team we haven't played since 2017.

They're off to a good start, 2-0-2, so unbeaten like us, couple of draws, but two wins over MIAA member schools Newman and Emporia State, and that's a team that was 11-5-3 a year ago.

What do we know about SWASU?

Yeah, you know, they're a team that's going to work extremely hard.

I mean, people were in quite the tizzy that a football game at Topeka ended in a tie, but we end in ties all the time, at least in the regular season.

I joked with our girls.

I said, hey, did you see there was a team in the MIAA that wasn't soccer that actually ended in a tie? And they were confused for a second, and then I kind of explained the situation.

And yeah, I mean, obviously that's not ideal, and so we want to be able to do everything in our power to get that game in.
