As the Golden Coast was settled by more and more commercial and industrial operations, as the film colony grew, a new age of madams dawned up and down the Sunset Strip.

These were the big madams of Hollywood, the women who saw to the tastes and needs of stars like Errol Flynn, Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Mickey Rooney, and the big heads of studios like Louis B. Mayer and Arthur Freed.

These women were powerful in their own right and ran brothels all around Los Angeles, many of them centering in Hollywood around the Sunset Strip or right within the grounds of the very studios themselves.

The names of these women, infamous though they were, have carried on through the decades as part of Hollywood history and Hollywood lore.

We know that this happened because several celebrities, once again, have talked about it and made literal, distinct, specific references to Mae's in their autobiographies.

One of the biggest celebrities to visit this house and to speak candidly about it, and I believe him, again, I believe him, was none other than Mickey Rooney, who was taken there by his friend Milton Berle, who you can also find in pictures with Marilyn Monroe in The Friars Club, which is tied to the CIA and the mafia.

Mickey said the quality of the lookalikes blew his socks off, and it was often hard to tell that you weren't talking to the real woman.
