Mick O'Brien

So on one occasion when I was down there, I encountered it in the wild for the first time, traditional music, that is, when I met the O'Briens from Coolock.

They're well-known musicians, Michal O'Brien, or Mick O'Brien, and his brother Dennis, Donagh O'Brien.

They were fantastic musicians, and I gravitated towards their circle of musical friends and became very interested.

So from about the age of 15, that's when I first came across Irish music, and with those guys, the O'Briens, We would go off to festivals in the summer.

Then The Long Strand, which they say they got from Mick O'Brien.

And then again, Annam, that they also got from Mick O'Brien.
