We actually released a case study with this artist by the name of Mick Jenkins.

He's an indie artist.

When we started working with him, and you can see the full report, it's just on insights.even.biz. And when we started working with this artist, he had zero fans on his mailing list.

The title of that track was Flowers.

Before that, we heard from Elizar with Feel It, as well as Lavender alongside Mick Jenkins with a little Peppermint this morning from the album All Will Be Well.

And, um, yeah, he just released a new album as well, and I would implore people to check it out.

Even if you're not into that kind of world of music, there's some fantastic features on there, like Mick Jenkins and the like, and-

When these lists come out, it works 'cause there's discourse, and we talk about them every time, but we usually talk about how terrible they are and how misplaced most of it is.

And when I saw Mick Jenkins at, like, number 26, I was like, "Get this out of here," I think.

They have a collab record that dropped in February of this year called Blackass Kung Fu Flick.

And the song we heard was called Creamed Corn.

I think that takes us back to the EDF where we had a little Kenny Lamar in there somewhere.

As in, like, what was people's perception of it or what was mine? What is yours? My perception of it? So, like, my thinking was a hybrid.

I knew it was a hybrid because I came up listening to, like, early Chance the Rapper, Mick Jenkins, No Name.

And at the same time, I'm listening to, you know, your Skeptics, your JMEs, your Wileys.

So, for me, I knew that... at my core, I was a hybrid.

you're kind of like matching different yeah like piano players up with different vocalists and like trying to like and then obviously yeah i i because obviously i'm like there has to be like a face of a project and i am you know the person who does the most work and i produce it and write everything and but like there's so many people involved in this album like obviously all the features are on there we've got like mick jenkins anais terican jacob alon um eric oscar drone yeah uh bina i think that's all of them smashed it um but there's you know the graham christella on drums ferguson security on piano uh matthias on saxophone johnny woodham on trumpet and then there's a string section but then there's the what's that group yeah i mean luckily it's just like you know dm but uh i think people would exit that what's it pretty quickly it's just me chasing because we do play so many shows and we're always on tour like we do obviously have like week week or two off here and there like for me like that time off like is time off for me and like leisurely time is just making music and it's like that's the time where i'm like oh i can be a kid again and i can just like make random stuff and like not have any pressure to because i feel like for me i like yes this is like a i'm really proud of this album it's like a 15 track like you know it's but it's like a good presentation of like what i've done with my music over the last couple years but yeah out for every track, there's ten other tracks that are just completely useless and terrible and I would never go anywhere.

But I think for me, I'm like, I just love making music, even if I spend like eight hours making something and it's just terrible.

I'm just like, I've really learned to like not like judge myself or be annoyed at wasting time i think like you have to like approach making music like you're i don't know like like you just love the you're not like looking for something because i feel like if i went into like right i need to write an album like i think it would just be really difficult so i'm more like approach it like anytime i have off I don't like play Call of Duty or anything like that.

It's wild.

It's a real trip.

It's got loads of collaborators on it, like Jacob Alon, Mick Jenkins, Vector, Anise, how do you pronounce that? Oscar Jerome.

I once accidentally dropped Oscar Jerome's synth box at a radio station I was working at, but he was very grateful for that.
