In our previous episode, we followed along as Temujin Kensu, formerly known as Frederick Thomas Freeman, waged a persistent battle to win his freedom against the Michigan Department of Corrections and the justice system in general.

Having experienced a rollercoaster ride of the highs and lows of the appeals process, it seemed like the inmate, who was serving life without parole, might finally have gotten himself a real shot at a new trial in October 2010.

Federal Judge Denise Page Hood had granted a habeas corpus petition filed on Kentsu's behalf, overturning his guilty verdict.

In July of 2022, a Macomb County Circuit Court judge sentences Carol Ray to serve between 20 to 30 years in prison.

Online records with the Michigan Department of Corrections show she's serving her sentence in the Huron Valley Women's Complex in Ypsilanti.

Her earliest possible release from prison is scheduled for January of 2040, when Carol will be in her 70s.
