And so for me, hearing everything she said, I'm like, "Yes, I wanna talk about that.
24:00
Yes, I wanna talk about that." And I'm glad I didn't have a pen and paper, otherwise I'd just be repeating everything she said.
24:06
Um, my podcast really started because, uh, you know, my poor husband actually would hear every day this happened, and then this happened, and then this happened.
24:15
And he just one day put a mic in front of me and said, "Talk into this." And really, that was why that started.
24:21
Um, you know, I had run for public office.
24:24
I had, uh, started- I was two years into my book club at that point, and a lot of people claimed that they wanted to hear more.

Michelle, has your, has your process, uh, through your work on the Native Calgarian podcast, has, ha- has, have you found, like, a, maybe an evolution of thought or of motivation or, uh, or inspiration that you didn't anticipate?

So earlier this summer, a book caught my eye because of its title.
0:07
On the cover were the words worry, cry, argue, fight.
0:15
all crossed out and then boldly circled pray first the subtitle promised to reveal the transformative power of a life built on prayer right up my alley i thought perfect it's a summer beach read so as i do with many books i ordered it used as soon as it arrived i opened it up to get to begin to read it only to find on the inside cover an inscription you are one of my prayers god listened to me and gave me the most wonderful man my right one signed and dated December 24th, 2023.
1:11
Which immediately led me to wonder, how had the book traveled from one of the most beautiful attestations of transcendent love, you are one of my prayers, to the $2.99 discount rack? Had he died? Had they broken up? Had he read the book's title when she gave it to him? As a passive, aggressive, you need to pray more? I was suddenly imagining a whole domestic drama unfolding between the dedication page and the used book sticker.
1:59
Of course, there is the more mundane possibility that he received the book, read it, and simply did some Marie Kondo-ing.
2:10
Apparently though, sometime between Christmas 2023 and the used bookshelf in 2026, the answered prayer had stopped sparking joy.

Yeah, that ignorance malfunction.
35:19
But we're all raised to believe that.
35:21
Like I was raised to believe by my white side of the family that I wasn't like those other Indians.
35:29
And so that's a programming that takes a lot to undo.
35:33
And, you know, you feel so much internalized racism when you experience racism.
35:37
because it's been embedded in you for decades that, you know, you are such a, you know, good little Indian, you're right, compared to, so it was sick, it was gross.
35:51
So anyway, you know, growing up in Sylvan Lake, the only access we had to anything was a bus that came from Penhold, picked up all the little farm kids, stopped in Innisfail and went to the Red Deer Armory.

And and how they are able to blossom.
1:42
... how did you transition into being a psychic?
1:45
Um, well, fairly suddenly, although I was always very, I would say, psychic and guided.
1:52
Um, so I always used, um, my guidance or my communication with my guides.
1:59
I guess it was my guides.
2:00
Um, I thought everybody could do that, and when I realized they couldn't, I kept very quiet about this.
2:06
Uh, also, I just knew things about people and could see outcomes and, and things like this.
2:13
Um, felt very connected to something bigger than myself and very guided.
