Michael S. Malone

That's why I think it's actually more for thinking about what something else looks like, it's actually more useful to actually think about what a project would be that would create something that is very different from what we have today and grapple with the difficulties and nuances of the reality of digital computation or digital technology rather than assuming that it was so much better at a certain time.

I think it's in, like, the big score, Mike Malone's history on Silicon Valley.

He just very casually is like, yeah, like, Apple computers were being built in with, like, piecework, you know, soldering being done by Filipino women in Redwood City houses.

And it's not even the main point in the book, but it's this massive double take moment.

Let's find if there are termites in this house.

According to Michael Malone's book...

Apple called nearly everyone who had ever worked with or for Next developers, contractors, current and former customers, past and present employees, trying to find that one fatal bit of evidence that would nix the deal.

As Jobs later said, they gave us a very thorough scrubbing.
