Yeah.

And we started this in 2020, which there was wildfires, there was COVID, there was all types of things to be anxious about.

And I think at that time in the movement, in the left, there was that phrase, the US military is the world's biggest polluter.

Like that was a phrase that went around on social media.

And I heard it said a lot, but I felt like there, when you really look to, okay, what backs that up? You know, that's people cite like one study about emissions, right? And so that's, I felt like it's a phrase that had a lot of weight that wasn't ever fully fleshed out in one place.

And so that's what gave us the idea to do it.

I think at the same time, In 2020, like during COVID, we both read that book, The End of Ice by Darja Mail, which is a kind of scary projection of the future, which he said when he wrote it at the time, he was told he was too alarmist.

Mike, how did your experience in Iraq shape the film?

How much of a factor is that?

Yeah, I mean, he's created a, a strange environment, uh, to say the least.

I think that's obviously a part of it.

You know, people like Hegseth, they have a vision of what the military should look like.

It should be an organization of, you know, hardened killers, you know, I think is the way he likes to present it, but also one of, of men and of white men in particular.

Uh, I think it is important to point out that his anti-DEI, anti-woke, uh, military measures, they are targeting women, they're targeting Black service members in particular.

And this is significant because African Americans are disproportionately represented in the military compared to the US population.

What happened? What do you want people to know?

Explain what that is and, uh, just the scope of this issue.

Well, conscientious objector just means you have a, uh, a objection of participating in war in any form.

Um, and, you know, we have-- It has been a difficult few weeks because we have so many people and their families who are desperate to find alternatives, uh, to being sent to the Middle East.

Um, we have a situation where Trump and his team have but launched an unprovoked war with no legitimate rationale, no rational justification, and in partnership with a military that has just committed a genocide in the region.

They have imposed this on the American people, the Iranian people, and tens of thousands of service members and their families who believe this is, uh, deeply wrong.

You know, we haven't just experienced a surge in calls of inquiries, but a surge in people who have actually started the process of filing as conscientious objectors, which is a right to all service members, uh, to refuse to participate.

Um, you know, we have, you know, had a-about a thousand percent increase in CO clients just since the beginning of the war.

Uh, what do you envision if the president actually does, uh, commit troops o-on the ground in this war?
