KMOX continues to follow developments regarding data centers on both sides of the river.

We told you about Granite City putting a framework in place, setting some standards, but Mayor Mike Parkinson was adamant residents should not have to foot the bill for those large companies who can afford to build their own data centers.

Governor JB Pritzker says in 2019, data centers were not a thing, but Illinois wanted to be competitive with other states and passed bipartisan legislation for data center tax credits.

What we now see is these hyperscale massive data centers where they wanna take an entire nuclear power plant offline and apply it to a data center that might be many millions of square feet.
