Michael Kiwanuka

It's a solid recommendation, but there's no guarantee it'll land.

My dad is into some modern music like Michael Kiwanuka and Rangan Bone Man, but he mainly listens to his old faves.

Recommendations don't always make it through the net.

But this one does.

And so I was referencing, I'm getting poppy, lots of kick drum, kind of a soul record.

Being like, we sent it to Paul Butler, the guy who does the Michael Kiwanuka records.

And it was like, his job was to like, he basically like made everything like mess it up in a good way.

But like, It was like, oh, OK, wow.

But I think Americana music is anyone that is incorporating telling a story and using influences from all different styles of music to tell that story in a song format.

Somebody that I think is one of my favorite, I deem as an Americana artist who always gets put as a soul artist or like a R&B artist is Michael Kiwanuka.

That man tells some of the most beautiful stories and uses mostly acoustic instruments or acoustic mixed with electric all live and has yet to be considered an Americana artist.

Or Brittany Howard, someone who fuses all these different genres.

You might have heard Daniele Lupi collaborating with Parquet Courts a few years ago for the album Milano, and then it was Roma before with Danger Mouse, so a pretty good collaborator, I'd say.

and Michael Kiwanuka is as good as any too.

It's a lovely piece of Italian film soundtrack-inspired balladry.
