So when I found out that he was going to make a sci-fi movie... featuring aliens I love aliens and it's set on the DMZ and it's starring Michael Fassbender starring Alicia Vikander and there's going to be great shootouts and action sequences the trailer comes out and you get these crazy shots with a police car that's drifting and you turning in a ransacked like rampaged village it just looked amazing And then the first reviews from Cannes Film Festival came out and they were really mixed.

And at first I was like, maybe I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe the Cannes Film Festival audiences just don't like genre films because it was playing in competition with like really arthousey kind of drama films.

I don't think anybody would enjoy how this movie ended.

Okay, I think we'll talk about the ending a little bit later.

I did want to touch on also something that you mentioned earlier on, which is starring Michael Fassbender, starring Alicia Vikander, because they, especially in the international market, have been the headline names.

So eventually, it takes a while and then you're like, okay, no, wait, it's in South Korea.

I just don't know of.

There's a couple names that I know.

He has poise.

And that is Mr. Michael Fassbender as Batman.

Really? I have to look up who that is.

I don't know who that is.

I mean, that's kind of Bruce Wayne-y.

We didn't mention this.

But like Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender and Taylor Russell all play these aliens, I guess.

And I'm like, were they in mocap suits or did they just do like the like three voice lines and like yell and that's it? what is

their involvement in the movie I'm curious I am too because the like whatever motion capture you can't imagine that a lot of the motion that aliens do does not feel it does a good job of feeling alien right like there's not a I can't imagine ways that you get some of that motion through mocap so like right

Yeah, I was I'm imagining even at the end of the movie, like some of the dialogue between the I think the the Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender characters.

I maybe like their faces or their eyes are used somewhat.

I'm not sure.

But it's kind of crazy that they're like, oh, yeah, Michael Fassbender, like known like movie star.

Yes, but they all get murked.

But then he's being chased by Michael Fassbender, who's the transforming monster.

Transformer CGI alien.

Right.

It is crazy [laughs].

And then we cut to- These two aliens, who I guess are the, the main antagonists-

I'm like, wow, that is a pretty sweet trailer cause it basically just shows the opening.

Um, But yeah, there's just some really interesting underlying themes regarding the belief in God and our Creator and what knowledge... like we are owed like what what knowledge we're entitled to and kind of how like the stuff that we think we're entitled to we're really not um and i think a lot of people have different interpretations on the film but it's it was really cool and visually it was really really good obviously um And Michael Fassbender is this robot guy, and he's just so creepy the whole movie.

He just plays him absolutely perfectly.

But there's an interesting dynamic there because Michael's character, his name is David in the movie, he... is a robot and he's like starting to like find humanity in himself and all these people are basically on this mission to like hopefully meet their god and his god or his creator are like these people on this ship basically and he's like trying to ask them questions like phrasing questions basically to kind of get them to think about things differently because they don't hold any sort of sentiment to David at all.

And he's like, what if you were on this whole mission and you found out that that your god didn't hold any sentiment towards you, and then they're like, oh, that really sucked, basically.

So you kind of start vibing with David as a character, and Michael Fassbender just is really, really good at playing this robot guy.

Yeah, that was great.

Then I watched Isle of Dogs, which is the other Wes Anderson stop-motion film.

you just get a quick glimpse.

The one thing I will say, and if you look at IMDb, you'll see this and you'll wonder what Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander are doing in this movie.

Cars flipping and guns shooting and all that, but

I'm going to start with some Ridley Scott news off the back of his unsuccessful run on Dog Stars.

Ridley Scott confirmed that the Alien Covenant sequel centering around Michael Fassbender's David has already been written.

But right now, we don't know where we are with it.

So that was a surprise to me.
