Michael Cretu

His name is Michael Cretu.

Probably mispronouncing that, but, like, he is the, the visionary behind it.

But, like, he purposely-

story sandra is the artist and she's german she joined the disco act arabesque when she was just 17 years old They had a big following in Japan, but the band members grew apart, and in 1984, the other two members continued on under the name Rouge, and Sandra went solo.

A keyboard player named Michael Cretu, who had often played with arabesque and at this point was Sandra's boyfriend, created his own studio to record her music.

Her first single, a German cover of the Elphaville song Big in Japan, was flopped but next out of the gate was the song i'll never be maria magdalena here's a clip

It was written by Cretu and three other blokes, and they decided to use the biblical figure Maria Magdalena in the song simply because they needed something with seven syllables for the chorus.
