Michael Card

They are ancient songs that Jewish pilgrims would sing while ascending the hills towards Jerusalem and up the steps into the temple.

Here, Christian recording artist Michael Card sings Psalm 121 in Hebrew.

So imagine this song now and the cries of the Hebrews in unison, singing this psalm of ascent from chapter 121, but singing by the thousands, how their help comes from the Lord.

I trust the theme of this meditation from Psalm 121 will offer you much encouragement as you seek to worship God today, as you strive to voice joyful praise to the Lord, and as you long for His help.

We think Jesus was probably standing there practicing the Sermon on the Mount or something.

And there's a, oh, what was his name? Michael Card.

I'm dating myself here.

One of the earlier contemporary Christian artists, Michael Card, had a song, and it may have actually been about this, now that I think about it.

But one of the lines is, and there was Jesus, full with the fun.

There's a lot of dancing at Jewish weddings.

And then my final thing on Job is just, I think I've mentioned this before on here, but it's worth repeating.

I'm a big fan of Michael Card's music.

He's a great Bible teacher, in my opinion, but puts it into song.

He also writes books, but he has a song called The Job Suite, and it's basically a beautiful summation of Job.

We're gonna move on to two Michaels who had very different music styles.

First, Michael Card with The Nazarene, and then Michael W. Smith with his crossover hit, Rocket Town.

The Nazarene had come to live the life of every man, and He felt the fascination of the stars.

And as He wandered through this weary world, He wondered and He wept, for there were so few who'd listen to His call.

But let's-- when we come back, uh, I, I just wanna dig into, just briefly, what does it mean that a nation is going to speak like a dragon? What does that actually mean? Uh, let's come to some music.

At Landmark Booksellers, he brings his books there often and, and will donate them or, or sell them.

And so one day I, I went in, and he had just dropped books off, and so I got this one.

So in the front here it says, "Michael Card, first book in PhD program, February 9, 1998." So that's really cool.

I, again, I, I, I used to listen to this guy and, uh, so it's just kind of a neat thing to have his first, [chuckles] first book here from his PH- PhD program.

And it's a work from Aristotle, and it's one I'll, uh, that will come up when I start reading Aristotle, so I've got this version here to, uh, to reference if, if I need.
