MG Metro 6R4

Ford built the RS200, which was a futuristic mid-engined four-wheel drive rally car.

MG created the Metro 6R4, with a naturally aspirated V6 mounted in the middle of a tiny hatchback body.

Lancia developed the Delta S4, perhaps the ultimate expression of Group D excess.

It used both a supercharger and a turbocharger.

Inside.

It has all the power in the world, engine from a Metro 6R4 rally car, and plastic inside, and if you put the windows up, you've gotta, like, hands on the windows trying to put the window up [laughs]

... 'cause the windows didn't wanna go up.

It's a V6?

That's a twin turbo V6 from a Metro 6R4 rally car.

The little MG Metro everyone, everyone's dads had.

And we missed out on seeing, well, the Group S group.

category to follow Group B but we also missed out on seeing the best of cars like the Ford RS200 and the MG Metro 6R4 who were yeah they'd been developed but they certainly hadn't reached their potential but yeah it was a great time in terms of the manufacturer involvement because there was MG Metro there was Ford there was Peugeot there was Lancia of course yeah yeah there was yeah it was an incredible time in rallying that's for sure

And there's quite a famous piece of paper, so to speak, or piece of papers from that Portugal rally.

I don't know where that piece of paper is, and you may be able to explain it better than I, Peter, but if you had your hands on the original copy of that, you could sell that for a lot of money.

Now we met that man at a couple of shows ago and it's not a real 6R4 it's just it's just a kind of like a mock-up but it's a very good one.
