Metascience

It covers a lot of different topic areas, but also involves looking at things from a meta perspective.

So we've talked about meta awareness, awareness of our experience and meta science, the meta Science of science, meta perspective, gaining perspective on perspective and so on.

So it's really sort of tries to take a big picture perspective and it really tries to look at things differently.

from a integration of philosophical and scientific perspectives, taking some of the big issues that philosophy grapples with, but also trying to investigate them empirically, things like introspection, things like the stream of thought, whether or not consciousness may exist as more than simply a brain.

So that was much more successful.

There's much more crosstalk between different domains.

And I do think it contributed to the meta-science movement, which I also think helped to organize a meeting on meta science in 2019 and now that's a really big area of investigation

it's amazing yeah it seems like right now it's probably so exciting for all of you guys who are studying consciousness because there seems to be a lot of people that are getting outside of that traditional way of thinking of the reductionist models of the brain and cognition and i've been hearing more and more really incredible minds like even michael levin i've had him on And he's doing things in the lab now and the way that he has so many different people from different fields coming together to think about what is cognition and what is the nature of consciousness.

STS does some of that.

Metascience does some of that.

There's people who do this in politics.

There's people who do this in all sorts of different ways, in journalism, all sorts of areas.
