You came on after Wally Wood.

Now, Walt was still a younger guy at that time, but there were some big shoes to fill and seemed to have done pretty good.

Both those songs have Van Vliet improvising lyrics based on comic books that were lying around.

Metal Man Has Won His Wings comes from an issue of The Metal Men with a story about a living gun, which also had an advertisement for a Hawkman comic reading in part, "Electrifying announcement.

Hawkman has won his wings, and from now on, his famous 'weet-weet' battle cry will appear in his own magazine." While Tiger Roach was inspired by Green Lantern number 34, whose cover has Green Lantern fighting a funny-looking lizard and the story title Three-Way Attack Against Green Lantern.

None of this material got released at the time or for many decades later, though they at least made attempts at getting some of it out.

Rex is invited to join the JLA in Justice League of America number 44, but famously, Metamorpho says no! He does, however, become a reserve member.

He returns to B&B, teaming up with the similarly wacky Metal Men in issue number 66, June-July 1966, then, of course, two issues later, the story we're about to cover.

During the height of his popularity, in the superhero boom of 1966, a series of metamorpho-animated shorts was in development by Filmation as a potential addition to their Superman-Aquaman Hour of Adventure show.
