for that band, you know, and even though they got mad and slagged me in the end because I didn't really pay attention to all the music they were doing over in Studio B, which I believe is coming out, but look outside the window or whatever the hell it's called.

Well, even though they were mad at the end, you know, they kind of all came back years later in, I think, Revolver or Hammer, Metal Hammer, and said, you know, it really actually wasn't a whole lot of me.

It was more the turbulence between them and Joey and internal stuff in the band, which...

It was actually...

I just think when you've got the same budget, same money spread across those bands, you're getting better bang for your buck.

Because really, when you go into that next sort of Metal Hammer, Bloodstock, Lord and the Billet, Download Territory, who are those bands that really the damnation fans are gonna be like, oh my God, I mean, everyone likes Kurshida, everyone likes Mastodon, everyone likes Behemoth, but you see them regularly.

And if those bands are absorbing your whole bill, as a Damnation fan saying, OK, that is great, I get to see BM off, but I don't get to see maybe another three of those bands.

It's my opinion, which might be wrong.

I was there from ground zero, from day dot when...

I remember Metal Hammer, I want to say January 99, they started doing, they were going to do this monthly CD subscription.

They were going to give away, they were going to let you subscribe to it.

And they were going to send you like a four or six track CD.

And it was like the Wu-Tang Clan of metal was the fucking, that was the strapline.

Interesting.

And that was in Metal Hammer, and I want to say that was around about February or March 1999, and I remember it vividly, Wu-Tang Clang on Metal, because it was like nine people, because Wu-Tang Clang was known for having a lot of members.

And at that point, there was no band in Metal that had maybe more than, say, six or seven people at best.

I can't wait.

I also feel like now, do you know, I had a conversation with Caleb recently for an interview that hasn't come out yet, I don't think, or maybe it is out in print, but we were talking for an interview I did with him for Metal Hammer and genuinely, firstly, he mentioned when we gave him his flowers and we gave him rainbow flowers and at the time he was like, no, I was in the closet and I wasn't sure of myself and having those flowers and being seen in that moment felt so wholesome and I was

like- That was on this podcast, by the way.

We did!

I will get into that fucking venue.

Yeah, you work for Metal Hammer.

Of course he'll get in.

He's 74, he joined in 1982, and he's just said that he wants to make another record with the band.

He told Metal Hammer that if Maiden went into the studio, he'd be delighted to get back on with them.

There's a condition.

It'd have to be something a bit more simple, he said.

There is also the really, really good, uh, Dutch post black metal band, Fluisteraars, with their album called Jagt De Mysterien.

Both of those last two albums, the Archgoat and the Fluisteraars, I have already reviewed for Metal Hammer, and they are pretty cracking, so I recommend both of those.

And into even more avant-garde, weirdo, doom black metally with saxophones and the like, uh, circles, there is the French band Epitaph with an E at the end of it, and their album in Roman numerals, III.
