Mesquite

So everybody knows in town that, you know, I like the old B-dubs.

And so one of my buddies called me and he said, hey, man, There's an original 64 sitting over Mesquite, Texas for sale on the town square in a little gas station being consigned.

And I was like, whatever, man.

It's probably been – everybody that tells me that, it winds up being repainted 15 times and some late model, non-collectible.

He is an Uzbek immigrant, though.

In Mesquite, Texas, Kassan Bagbaev, I believe is how you pronounce it, has been charged with manslaughter after he took the wrong exit on the interstate.

And then he backed his semi-truck back up the ramp trying to get onto the interstate again.

So, whoops, wrong exit.

A man is in custody after police say he backed a semi-truck onto a busy interstate causing a deadly crash in Mesquite.

Officers responded to westbound Interstate 30 near the northbound 635 ramp around early Friday morning.

With a growing number of local governments trying to restrict young people's access to arcades and video games, one town pushed things that took video games all the way to the Supreme Court.

In Mesquite, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, the city outright barred kids 17 and under from Aladdin's Castle, their big local arcade.

Now, the only way a young person could go into an arcade is if they were accompanied by an adult.

Smithsonian Magazine reports that local officials also refused the arcade chain's request to open a new location in a shopping mall.

Then, in 1982, after going all the way to the Supreme Court, they sent the matter back to the appeals court.

On February 24th 1982, The New York Times reported that kids waiting for a definitive Supreme Court decision on their right to play video games in malls and arcades would have to wait a while longer.

The court then announced that it would not decide the Texas case known as Mesquite versus Aladdin's Castle, which had been expected to produce a ruling on whether cities and towns can keep children out of arcades.

By sending the case back to the federal appeals court, the Supreme Court, quote, "effectively dodged an opportunity to establish young people's right to play video games in an arcade." Unquote.
