Merredin

So just a very slight chance of a shower through far north-eastern parts, east of about Southern Cross on Thursday, but otherwise warm and dry.

We'll see temperatures getting up to around 27 to 28 degrees around Wongan Hills and Merredin on Friday and into the low 30s through inland parts of the central west.

And we do see a cold front coming through.

It'll probably be after midnight Friday into Saturday morning, so that's the next chance that we'll get.

The resignation was tendered at the council meeting and takes immediate effect.

And the Shire of Merredin is calling for expressions of interest to fill a vacant councillor position.

That's after two unsuccessful extraordinary elections, which means the council can now directly select and endorse a preferred candidate.

Written applications close at 5pm on Friday the 11th of September.

There is embedded thunderstorm activity in this cloud band as well.

Um, so for the remainder of today, the area bounded by Narrogin, Merredin, Beacon, Balladonia, down to Esperance to Jerramungup, we can expect another ten to twenty millimeters.

There could be isolated falls to thirty millimeters.

Um, now within this area, there is a severe weather warning current, um, and that's currently still sort of extending east of Hopetoun, um, sorry, north of Hopetoun, east of Ravensthorpe, uh, to the area west of Esperance.

Um, later this afternoon or during this afternoon, evening period, it is possible that we may see one or two embedded thunderstorms develop, basically the area from Merredin all the way down to about Norseman.

It's, it's possible we may see a few more heavy falls in that area, sort of more in the twenty to thirty millimeters.

It's hard to predict where exactly it'll happen, but the persistent rain that we're seeing through the eastern parts of the Great Southern and the southeastern parts of the Central Wheat Belt are likely to persist for the remainder of the afternoon into the evening period before slowly easing.

Now tomorrow, um, the moderate falls are likely to contract east of Southern Cross to Ravensthorpe.

Well, showers over much of the Southwest Land Division, not much though, not very high rainfall, and a chance of a thunderstorm still possible, um, for the Wheatbelt and, uh, far eastern parts of the Southwest Land Division.

So only looking at, um, up to five millimeters, maybe east of about Merredin on Friday and same sort of area on Saturday, but, uh, um, probably zero to three millimeters.

Quite a cold morning on, um, Friday morning for areas around Collie and Wandering, getting down to around two to three degrees, so, uh, a chance of frost there, possibly again Saturday morning.

And then finally for Sunday, we will see a high moving into the Bight, a weak west coast trough and pretty light to moderate east, northeasterly winds, so a much warmer day, um, looking at twenty-one to twenty-five degrees across the Southwest Land Division, uh, and just up to that sort of twenty-eight degree mark around Mulwa, and just some fog possible near the west coast, but, uh, not really any significant rainfall on Sunday.

Uh, across the, the, the period from, uh, Wednesday or so, uh, I should say, uh, later Thur- later Tuesday out to Thursday, we're probably looking at falls, uh, the lightest falls across the main agricultural areas will be over inland parts of the Midwest, so places like Morawa, Mullewa, probably only a few mils there.

Uh, across northern parts of the Wheatbelt, not gonna see, uh, all that much rainfall, probably about three to 10 mils, uh, from Merredin on, uh, northward up through, uh, Beacon.

And then as you get to- further south from Merredin, there's a bit of uncertainty in terms of the, the rainfall, but especially when you get south of about, uh, Corrigin, uh, down towards Kojonup, uh, they're probably gonna do fairly well as there, there is gonna be a low-pressure system that may develop within this front.

And so especially on Wednesday night and Thursday, we could be looking at some pretty decent rain from Kojonup right across, uh, to the Esperance region, and s- some of those areas could see, uh, anywhere from about, uh, 15 to, to 50 mils.

Again, uh, fairly uncertain as far as the rainfall, but it does look like, uh, for the main ag areas, the Great Southern, uh, and across to Esperance is, uh, probably gonna do the best from this, this system.

In the southwest and southern coastal regions, there was nothing really over three mils, and a few places had sort of twos and ones, and that's about it.

But in the Central Wheat Belt, there was a fair bit more.
