Meridian Hill Park

It just doesn't work that way.

We've never there is a park in D.C., Meridian Hill Park where James Buchanan, there's a statue of James Buchanan there, one of the least popular presidents in American history.

Maybe they could put a Donald Trump statue there next to James Buchanan because that's about where he ranks right now.

There's a lot of park resources.

There's Malcolm X Park, there's Anacostia Park.

There's a number of spray gardens for the kids.

There's a number of playgrounds that are just situated in neighborhoods.

Um, President Trump, this is something, he was just very hyped about this, Mike, so I wanna talk about it 'cause he's obviously very proud.

From Greg Wisher at the United States Department of the Interior, "The National Park Service has beautified the Dante Memorial Statue in Meridian Park in Washington, DC.

The statue depicts the Italian poet Dante Alighieri holding his most well-known work, The Divine Comedy, which was finished in 1321.

The statue was cleaned and waxed." Mike, we've seen this one, right?

That's so cool.

Meridian Park's where the fountain is.

Yeah.

Then she started adding in those symbols, pops of playful, luscious color against the dark background, things kids would see.

A drum to signify the weekly drum circle in nearby Malcolm X Park.

A bike courier.

She's got her mag wheels.

The water's on at Union Station, but it doesn't really add much because no one's really hanging out there.

But people hang out at Meridian Hill Park.

That's the one that they cared about.

I just cannot overstate, dude, downtown D.C. right now.

And it was the way of virginalities from New York, keeping in touch and preserving their culture.

You could have gone to Malcolm X Park and Marcus Garvey Park.

They would hold an intimate interchange between the two, Doug and Harlem.

And... and buy wilks and rice you know and you know you don't have wilks in new york but you could get it on that day you know so i would love to see the virgin islanders and virgin islanders have that same sense of pride in order to um so to make this preservation effort worth it because what we have now is just really just a few people working overtime to make it happen

Yeah.

And he was-- [laughs] He put up five posts in an hour about how clean the waterfall is at Meridian Hill Park in DC.

[laughs] I was just like, "Whoa." He's already-

This is what I think is happening.

You can't go out, and so he's just bleeding.

Sure.

Well, my point is, would h- would an ad that he crafted for the midterms include a lot of footage of Meridian Hill Park, and the Iowans being like, "What the fuck [laughs] is this park? Why? This is not, this is not in, in, in my neck of the woods."

"Look at the big, beautiful fountain.

And all the drummers would come and gather, and they played and the, and the energy just was so powerful that of course, yeah, they shut it down.

Uh, here in DC, we used to drum at Malcolm X Park, and th- that drum circle again was unity.

And when you have unity, there's strength and power.

And so yes, they made sure to cut that off and to stop us from being able to do that.
