Mercedes Ruehl

So.

What'd you think about like Mercedes Ruehl and like-

Oh my God, I was dying.

She's so fucking funny.

Absolutely.

The Fisher King is a 1991 fantasy comedy-drama written by Richard, uh, LaGravenese, LaGravenese, eh? Richard LaGravenese, and directed by Terry Gilliam, starring Robin Williams and Jeff Bridges, with Mercedes Ruehl, uh, Amanda Plummer, and Michael Jeter.

The film tells the story of a radio shock jock who tries to find redemption by helping a man whose life he inadvertently shattered.

It explores the, uh, intermingling of New York's, uh, usually strictly separated social stratas, and has been described as a modern-day grail quest that fused New York romantic comedy with timeless fantasy.

... swept the board at the Oscars.

Uh, and also, uh, Thelma and Louise, Th- Thelma and Louise, which took up all the other Oscars.

So as I say, Mercedes Ruehl was the only one who walked away with an Oscar, which was for Best Supporting Actress.

Um, it's got an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, uh, which is perhaps a little bit low.

So,

obviously, we've got Arnold Schwarzenegger as Jack Slater, F. Murray Abraham, Charles Dance is in it, Tom Noonan's in it, Robert Prosky's in it, Anthony Quinn, Mercedes Ruhl, Austin O'Brien's Danny, Ian McKellen plays Death.

Yeah, decent cast, some people that pop up.

There's a few cameos, obviously, in this as well.

He's the r- the radio operator who's trying to call out to McMurty and just gets wrecked after the blood scene.

And then, yeah, Mercedes Ruehl, this is the third movie she has been in that you have covered on Soundtracker.

The undercover cop in the park, the lady cop.

Yeah.

You know, you know as the audience something, it, there's something more to them.

And you get, I think as the audience, the same thing when they run across the, the- ...

Mercedes Ruehl in the park because you just know like, okay, w- w- this, this woman's just sitting in the dark park right now.

Like, it, this is not a good place to be.

But anyway, yes.

And also, there's another fight in the park, of course, involves a bench and Ajax and future Oscar winner Mercedes Ruhl.

And Tony, I think you've been there.

Is that right?
