oh my and like it was just one of those okay so i did message you guys because i was catching up obviously because we were recording like yesterday the next day and so you i'm listening to it and like obviously ain't no way i want like Am I saying that without looking at a list that it may be my favorite Mercedes solo? Maybe.

Without looking at the list.

There ain't no way.

I was like,

okay, yeah.

That's your favorite Mercedes solo?

I feel like, I think so.

I just kind of need everybody who is in the glee Rocky horror to be on the Broadway Rocky horror.

Oh, Mercedes as, as Frank and Fred was amazing.

Yes, absolutely.

She's an incredible singer.

I think I might've mentioned this one time on, um, on the podcast.

I can't remember, but, I read a story one time of somebody who was like friends with Amber Riley, who plays Mercedes and Alex Newell, who plays unique on there and also just an incredible performer in general.

You know, she got famous for having this big, bold, powerful voice out of such a tiny little French frame, and you just, your voice, you know, your voice matches more of who..." Like, Rachel's giving this.

... comes to Quinn's defense, and is like, "Miss Rachel, you wanna talk about powerful voices? I think I'm the authority on this in the Glee Club.

so now a smaller subset of the Glee Club, mostly namely just Quinn, Mercedes, and Artie, they're eating gelato, strolling around the Arc de Triomphe or some shit.

Yeah.

We'll get there when we get there.

Mercedes is talking about how she's going to go out of town on a mall tour.

I have so many questions.

She is an unknown entity to the music business.

And doing a mall tour makes more sense than the way that they're opening singers today where they just put them in an arena and are like, well, how come they're not selling out? Nobody knows them and they don't know how to perform.

Right.

I think that's one of the nice things I will say about this episode is that at least for Sam and Mercedes...

They are looking at dreams that they can work for that are achievable, that are real.

This then kind of sends Mr. Shu on his mission to, like, make the Glee Club everything it can be, and to try to inject some more energy into the club, he renames it New Directions.

And then we see all the auditions, including some iconic Glee cast members, like Mercedes, played by Amber Riley, Kurt, Artie, played by Kevin McHale, Tina, played by Jenna Ushkowitz, and, of course, this is where we first meet the Rachel Berry, played by Lea Michele.

This launches us into a monologue from Rachel Berry to us where she tells the audience that she definitely wasn't the person who falsely accused the old glee club teacher of assaulting a student to get him fired since he wouldn't give her the lead in the musical.

definitely wasn't her and then we see her literally doing it she also says that she grew up with two dads who spoiled her in the arts so she was always in dance and voice lessons she posts a myspace video of her singing every day and she says nowadays being anonymous is worse than being poor So

I think they're not expecting anything from him because he's a football player.

Except Rachel definitely scares him right off the bat with how intense that she's being while they're both singing the lead parts.

And then, of course, Mercedes is upset because she doesn't want to sing backgrounds.

But after all of this frustration from the group, Kurt says, it is the first time we've ever sounded kind of good.
