Menno Simons

Now, contrary to what this incident may suggest, Anabaptism was actually mostly a very peaceful religion.

And one of the people who helped lead parts of the movement in this direction was a man called Menno Simons, a former Catholic priest from the Netherlands who joined the Anabaptist movement in the 1530s.

Menuh explicitly rejected the violence and apocalyptic religious fervor associated with Münster, and instead of preaching an the-end-is-nigh kind of apocalypse, he emphasized pacifism, disciplined conduct, abstinence and restraint, and the quiet life of communities consisting of committed believers.

Sounds familiar, right? Anyway, for Menno Simmons, surprise, surprise, the Mennonites got their name.

It's just like the Mennonites.

And then I discovered that Menno Simons was Frisian.

But anyway, so...

One of the things in the church I grew up in that was not discussed was the resurrection.

You have another man by the name of Ulrich Zwingli, and he will bring about his own style of reformation.

These are all happening almost simultaneously, Thomas Müntzer and Menno Simons, who will become, his doctrine will become the which are all basically branches of Protestantism in different ways, the Anabaptist, the Baptist.

I mean, it becomes this, this floodgate of people who no longer, this is the problem, so I don't want you to think I'm just talking about the Catholic Church and its problems.

This, this reformation, the desire to reform occurs, and as people begin to break out and recognize we don't have to be a part of this, and we can go back to the source, guess what happens? more human traditions begin to be grafted on.

If you wanted to hear about John Smith, you'd go to the Baptist church.

You want to hear about Menno Simons, go to the Mennonite church or all kinds of different groups that are espousing things that different men caught inspiration from.

But we're not here just interested, and I'll even say it this way, I heard somebody say this recently and it was a good statement.

And that, you know, we are not here because we want to hear what William Branham said.

Other times it was Mennonites.

The Mennonites and the Menno Simons were doctrinally far, far superior in their doctrine as an Anabaptist sect to Luther or Calvin or Zwingli or any of the Reformation churches.

Their doctrine was right, much more right.

They were practices of believers' baptism, among other things.

I guess it was in 2009 called Returning to the Sources.

And I was comparing the life of Menno Simons and Abdul Wahhab.

Oh, boy.

Yeah, that's interesting because, okay, so Meadow being early, well, fairly early, well, about a middle of the way through the Reformation, I guess you could say.

Take your pick whenever.

But it's the reaction to it or the response.

That's where you see the fundamental split difference with the path of Menno Simons and so

forth.
