What are some of the ways that Forsyth County is ensuring that we're saving our dirt here, saving our farms, protecting our farmers, and giving them the resources they need to be successful?

You and I have talked about this.

Farming in our community is dwindling a little bit with the urban sprawl, and it's important to me that we support our farmers.

The fact that we have 262 farms in Forsyth County, some of them are small, some of them are large.

Worbington obviously has a very large operation going on, but some people are doing much smaller intensity of farming.

Commissioner, before we wrap things up here, if you were speaking to a local resident, someone with agricultural land, a farmer, or someone that might have just purchased that, that just needs some help to get to the next point of paying off those bills, what would you want to say to them or say to a farmer out there that may not be utilizing this cup?

Why and how did that happen, Commissioner?

Well, that data center cup was approved in 2024.

So that was before I joined the board.

And if an applicant landowner gets a zoning approval and does not move forward with building that out, getting a land disturbance permit in 18 months, it does come back before the board of commissioners for reconsideration.

So at that point, we could decide to extend their time to get their project going, or we could revoke that zoning or change it.

And so we did make the decision after the 18 months.

I had spoken with the landowner, and that was a project that was not going to come to fruition.

What are some of the things that you would want the residents of Forsyth County to know about data centers that are true?
