Mena Massoud

It's just not gonna work, and, uh, you know, we maintained our performances entirely, and that's something that we're proud of, and something that it's just i- in the industry, I think, is gonna keep coming up, and I'm sure the technology's gonna keep getting better and better.

But, you know, we wanna see, you know, Elijah Alexander as King Nebuchadnezzar, and we wanna see Mena Massoud play Daniel.

We wanna see these people that we can connect with on a real level, um, be the performers.

Like, that adds an element that it will never be replaced.

There are very lot of Housemaid similarities.

Housemaid with Sydney Sweeney and, uh, Mena Massoud, which was a big hit last year.

Which I actually thought, thought, thought that was pretty good.

Never read the books.

The film is called Daniel and the Fiery Furnace.

It stars actor Mena Massoud, who many may know him from the live action Disney movie Aladdin, and I'm so, so glad to talk to him today.

Welcome, Mena.

Thanks for having me, Lauren.

Wonderful.

Well, um, thank you so much for being on Lighthouse Faith Podcast.

Mena Massoud, actor superior of the, uh, Daniel and the Fiery Furnace, playing Daniel, great prophet of the Old Testament.

Thank you so much for being on Lighthouse Faith Podcast.

thank you so much where's my book what the hell you got a right

one where is your book this is choose your own adventure autobiography where's yours damn you took my name you have choose your own adventure movie that's what you have and this movie is a very specific world and story so where did sunny days come to you and what made you want to make this film

Yeah, I sort of started writing Sunny Dancer when I was 23 and it was off the back of my first movie.

And my mum had cancer when I was growing up, so I always wanted to tell the cancer story, but do it really differently.

And then for me, it was I was so excited as my second film to make a film that felt reminiscent of Breakfast Club and those ensemble films and trying to put all the coolest young British talent in one film.

So we did a little Sunny Dancer and yeah, that's where it all started.

I need a shirt.

That's the shirt.

it

Ina or Mena? Mina, Mina.

Mina, Mina, Mina, Mina, okay.

That's what I mean.

Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom will also be hitting theaters this weekend, as will Daniel and the Fiery Furnace, at least in my local market and the ones around me.

It's a biblically themed film, as you can imagine from the title, and it stars Mena Massoud as Daniel.

I'm still shocked that he didn't break out more from Aladdin.

Not, not to demean this movie, but I thought he was gonna get like big blockbuster leading roles, but it just didn't happen.

What? Will Smith.

Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan...

Kanzari, Navid.

Yep.
