Memento Mori

I mean- Even in Spark's kind of late 30s, early 40s, she was thinking incredibly seriously about death.

She has a novel called Memento Mori, which is a novel where a group of elderly characters receive phone calls from Death itself, reminding them to remember that they must die at some point and to be prepared for that and to live with an ever-present knowledge of death.

And actually, death is everywhere in Spark's fiction.

She will often interrupt a narrative just a few pages in by telling you how people will die.
