Basil in 1111, because that established a territorial diocesan structure, and then the Synod of Kells in 1152 created the, I guess, the recognized ecclesiastical provinces we still recognize them today, Armagh, Cashel, Dublin, and Tuam, and then also new religious orders have been arriving under Irish patronage, so Cistercians had already arrived in Melifont in 1142, and then the other city and communities were established at places such as Ferns before the Normans arrived, so They didn't bring reform to an unreformed Irish church.

I think they came into a church that was, as the title of the lecture says, already changing.

So they changed when they arrived, though they did change then the political and territorial framework, which in, I guess, which that reform operated things like who controlled the land, who possessed patronage and where the religious connections were directed, really.
