Among the people here, there's a French director, Sabrina Van Tassel.

She released in 2022 a documentary about Melissa Lucio that was acclaimed and that shed the light on, uh, her case.

Melissa Lucio has been accused of killing her child.

She's been on death row for decades.

The Supreme Court has denied the appeal.

You know, it seems funny to say, you know, this amount was not worth it.

Well, right now they're trying to save Melissa Lucio from lethal injection in Texas.

What'd she do?

Uh, murder.

So hopefully, who knows how that's going to go and when it'll happen and if it'll happen, actually, but hopefully, I just wanted to say congratulations.

Last week, I had actually sent him out to say, hey, Melissa Lucio, can we talk about that? And, of course, it wasn't my week.

So now, and I don't even think, I don't know if you mentioned it, maybe you did, but I'm going to talk about it now.

Melissa Lucio was denied by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals in an outrageous way.

decision that basically has set her on a trajectory that none of us imagined would be the case.

Why would it be the case that they would deny her when you have the judge who sentenced her to death and the current county prosecutor who was supposed to hold an evidentiary hearing to look at the evidence, and when he looked at what they had in their files, realized that not only did they not have evidence that shows her guilty, they had hidden evidence that would have helped her at trial.

So there's that.

Anyway, I mentioned I'm on my way back to California.

Jeffrey Prevost, on September 23rd, you filed a petition for writ of habeas corpus in federal district court.

And finally, Melissa Lucio.

Melissa? On September 24th, the CCA rejected the lower court's finding that you were actually innocent and denied relief.

The decision was five to four, with four judges dissenting.
