There are properties with personality, and then there's Melanie Harrison's Chambers of Distinction.

What began as a passion project has quickly crafted into Belfast's hottest boutique hotel, a jewel in the box of generic gems, a real rat of fantastically decorated rooms.

The Harrison is housed in sublimely restored Victorian residences that date all the way back to 1879.

It's got 30 rooms, and these have distinct personalities, with bathtubs in the bedrooms, thick velvet curtains, and dramatic antique furnishings.

It's hospitality straight out of a C.S. Lewis story, full of character and gloriously ali- alive, much like its brilliant owner, who sits with me today, Melanie Harrison.
