And so, um, you know, this was present and I grew up with it, but I grew up with it, well, I always say, like, you know, in private spheres, like-

That is why they called Tirudin the grandmother of Marrakesh.

When the Saadian sultans needed a seat for their power, they didn't look north to Fez or east to Meknes.

They looked here, to the fertile plain where the olives grow fat and the argan trees twist against the sky.

Marrakesh learned its architecture from this place.

You're going to really love it.

And then I believe you said that you were going to the city of Fez, not Meknes, which is the city that I talk about, but Fez and Meknes are two of...

Morocco's imperial cities.

And Fez is fascinating.

It's like an intact medieval city.

And you will just not believe when you go there what you're going to see.

And it's quite similar to Meknes that I talk about in the book.

So you will get a strong sense of what that is like.

Although, although it happens.

Well, we ca- we went to Morocco once, and we ended up staying, uh, overnight in Meknes.

We were, we were going to, from Casablanca to, uh, to Beit Hak in the Atlas Mountains.

And then we had a short, uh, pit stop, and we stopped in Meknes.

And we come into the hotel over there, and we were tired, and we were dirty from the day.

That was the day of the accident.

So anyway, we get into the hotel.

Finally, we check in, and, uh, the lady says, "Oh, just one, uh, one more thing.

The largest is Fez, which is about the size of Indianapolis, and next to it is the town of Morocco, which lies south of it.

Meknes, to the westward, is still smaller.

After Meknes come the chief ports scattered along the Atlantic coast, embracing Tangier, Casablanca, or Dar el-Beda, Mazagan, and Mogador.

The port towns are much like Tangier.

Each has a mosque or so, a collection of flat-roofed, bright-colored buildings, and a market.

Ten days after the Fiidik came and passed away, the Rebbe wrote a letter to Mechol Lipskirch, all of us saw him, that he should go on a Shlichas to Morocco, which he did.

And he was a shlich in Meknas.

And then a little while later, he was joined by Rabbi Shleiman Matasov.

And then subsequently, there was a whole bunch of other shluchim that went to Morocco.
