Megan Follows

Do you recognize her? I don't.

So her name is Megan follows.

She's a Canadian actress.

It's funny because this movie was shot.

Where is North Carolina? I don't know.

Maybe it's easier to get there by highway.

But anyway, yeah, Megan follows Canadian actress.

She is best known for being the OG Anne of Green Gables in the Anne of Green Gables miniseries that I was so locked in for as a kid.

This is like a werewolf movie, basically, starring Gary Busey and Corey Haim.

And if anybody out there was a fan of the Anne of Green Gables movies and series from the 80s, Megan Follows, like right when she was being Anne Shirley, Megan Follows plays the sister.

But Corey Haim is this... little scamp of a kid who's in a wheelchair, and that is a central part of the story.

And he lives in this small town, and strange things start happening.

It was Romeo and Juliet.

Anthony Cimolino was Romeo and Megan Follows was Juliet.

And I thought, oh, that is extraordinary.

Just the scope of the production, the quality of the costumes, all of it.

And for you Carly Fortune fans, I know there's lots of you, last week Netflix announced the cast of its series This Summer Will Be Different.

It will include Megan Follows returning to PEI after her breakout role in Anne of Green Gables in the 1980s, as well as Heated Rivalry stars Nadine Baba and Sophie Nélisse.

You've been listening to The Current Podcast.

My name is Matt Galloway.

Yeah.

When we find Jane Coslaw, played by Megan Follows, older Jane reveals that she was nearly 15 years old, and her brother Marty was 11.

Megan Follows, she was in Anne of Green Gables as well in '85.

Oh, nice.

Running the pendant of her necklace along its chain, Jane sits next to her parents, Nan and Bob Coslaw, played by Robin Groves and Leon Russom.

The casting was lightning in a bottle.

Megan Follows as Anne Shirley.

I mean, she didn't just play a spunky orphan.

She brought this incredible volatile mix of intense vanity, fierce intelligence, and this heartbreaking deep hunger for affection.

... took a great book and engineered it into a global feeling.

By warming the temperature and leaning into the nostalgia, he made the story emotionally accessible to millions of people who might have been alienated by the specific and nineteen oh eight satirical bite of the novel.

Megan Follows didn't just play Anne.

For a global generation, she became the definitive Anne.

The screenplay was written by Stephen King himself, which joins Cat's Eye, Maximum Overdrive, and Pet Sematary as King-written films that we've covered so far this season.

The cast of Silver Bullet includes Gary Busey as Uncle Red, Everett McGill as Reverend Lowe, Corey Heim as Marty, Megan Follows as Jane, and Terry O'Quinn as Sheriff Howler.

Real talk though, I spent literally the entire movie thinking that Uncle Red was Nick Nolte.

Like, it wasn't until the credits roll that I realized he was actually Gary Busey.

Oh, Rain.

Yeah, Megan Follows.

Okay, okay.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.
