Mega-City One

[sighs] Okay, I gotta take a deep, deep breath for this, for this one.

[inhales] Welcome to Mega-City One, where crime is everywhere, just- justice takes about four seconds, and apparently the biggest mistake humanity made was letting Judge Dredd remove his helmet.

Sylvester Stallone plays Judge Dredd, the legendary lawman who's framed for murder because cloning.

Naturally.

He's got to climb up the tower.

Also, they're mirrored at the same time outside in Mega City 1 where they've all forgotten about Judge Dredd.

there was the Black Tower, which just appeared in the middle of the city and caused a great big psychic shock.

They've killed a bunch of people and most of the psychics.

He failed.

He got thrown down.

The outside 2000 AD character, or Mega City 1 characters that were in the Black Tower side of the story, they won.

They... beat Mother Ruin, who is from the Judge Child saga, and she was in the tower, and then the Black Tower fell down, and the Black Tower falling down means that the Oubliette falls down because they're linked in some way.

In Judge Dredd's world, there was a judge called, um, Judge Maitland, who was an accounts judge, which, um, doesn't sound very exciting.

But she, through her modeling, worked out that if she took money away from the ju- uh, the weaponry of the judges and the sort of the armed conflict that's happening on the page, uh, uh, every day in Mega-City One in Dredd's world, and put it into education and social causes, crime comes down.

And the moment she realizes that, the entire system is potentially screwed and all, all everything, all the, the structural-

The system that was built.

We, we were, like, only a few episodes into writing, and we started writing to that, uh, because the way Henry was doing it, we started incorporating that into our scripts.

And then I realized, we realized what he was doing.

We were telling an, a story about claustrophobia in a, in a, the, the most heightened urban setting probably there's ever been in comics, Mega-City One, where the people are just crushed down.

And every page became just condensed, like beat, beat, beat.

Yeah, it's horrible.

I know it's terrible, but you could kind of weave a story of like Mega City 1 is a product of the dome being over Earth and Judge Dredd has to go take out Cotter of a Cloud or something like

that.

This is what I would like, right? This is my pitch for Judge Dredd Highlander crossover.

It's in Mega City 1.

McCloud finds himself in Mega City One hunting down the other Highlander.

Who was the main bad guy? What was his name again?

And he's like, oh, one second, and he just does it in front of them.

And then, like, Lanolok's like, fucking hell! What was that about? But what is this all about? What situation does Judge Yusuf Dredd find himself in? He's falling down a big hole whilst a psychic 9-11 is happening in Mega City 1.

Mm-hmm.

It's a second Psychic 9-11, because the first Psychic 9-11 was The Black Tower's Arrival, and the second Psychic 9-11 is its dispersal as it goes away because some big oogly boogly's turned up in the magazine and did it in.

Yeah.

Interesting story, this one, set in a sort of during the Sov invasion of Mega City One with East Meg One's Falcon Squadron.

Yeah, it's got a lot in it.

And the Darcy's Mob story basically is the retelling of this from Shortland's diary, which was found in 1946 after particularly...

Brutal Jungle Battle and the Darkies Mob story is basically this diary being read as it goes through.

So here we have Shortland again is keeping a battle log and he sends it back through a portal to Mega City One before they storm the Hall of Justice.

So it is in keeping with the original The dark character is absolutely fantastic.

Because it's different things.

Because the Black Tower was a 9-11 attack on Mega City 1. from just a Justice Department building that had been shifted into the shift and then shifted back out as an attack.

I think that Mother Ruin is also responsible for Dredd not being around.

Yes.

And they're in Alien Town, which we saw from the outside.

It's a great big block-like structure in the middle of Mega City 1, above ground.

It looks a little bit like a termite hill, which, in fairness, I'll give them.
