Our current program director, Dr. Berner, is also very, very passionate about being an advocate for residents and for our education.

So I feel like particularly being affiliated with UT Southwestern Children's and Parkland, we also do rotations at the Veterans Affairs and the Medical Examiner's Office.

We have a very... wide breadth of patients that we're exposed to.

And we get to see really, really interesting cases such as this autopsy that we're discussing.

So, and th- th- that ship not only has sailed, but then someone sold that ship for parts too.

Then let's talk about the city, okay? The Inquirer asked the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office a very simple question: Did the city send unclaimed bodies from the morgue to that crematorium? The office declined to confirm.

That is a hell of a way to answer a yes or no question Think about h- who ends up being unclaimed, guys.

Years after that gallery show, he posted a photo series on his own website.

Women from his shoots described as imagining and acting out their own deaths, and he did that cut together with images of real fatal overdose victims.

He wrote that he'd taken those photos in collaboration with the Philadelphia Medical Examiner and local paramedics, and he said that that was a collaboration.

He, he admitted that they didn't even know that they were a part of it.

She received her Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in photography from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and managed the tintype studio at Penumbra Foundation for many years.

She currently works as a senior photographer for the New York City Chief Medical Examiner's Office.

But did I give up? Well, almost and for a little while.

But thanks to the help of some of my most wonderful supporters in the constant discord, I have for you the true story of the American coroner system and the birth of the field of the medical examiner.

This is, and I can't believe this is true either, but it is, the first time that anyone in the available record has pieced together the events that led up to the first medical examiner's office in the world.

Why is this story being broken by some mid-rung podcaster and his Patreon supporters? I really have no fucking clue.

But it is.

A solution to the coroner problem had been worked out in the United States before one came to England.

A better solution, too.

Medical examiners.

Before noon, several other policemen, friends of the family, and local newspapermen had been admitted to the house.

Also, Medical Examiner Dr. William A. Dolan and a number of other physicians.

The Medical Examiner arrived at 11.45 and encountered Dr. Bowen and Bridget on his way into the sitting room.

He then made a hasty view of the bodies and the house and commenced immediately to make preparations for holding an autopsy.

John Vinicum Morse, brother of Andrew J. Borden's first wife and uncle of Mrs. Lizzie and Emma, arrived at the house shortly before noon.

Thousands of people hurried from their places of business, from the workshop and the mill, and gathered in the street in front of the house.

Newspaper men from the principal cities of New York and New England, to which the telegraph had communicated the news of the astounding crime, arrived on the afternoon trains, and as the day wore on, the dark mystery grew darker, and the task of fastening the crime on the guilty party took on the semblance of an impossibility.

Medical Examiner Dolan and the corps of physicians held an autopsy on the bodies in the afternoon and found that thirteen blows had rained upon the head of the unsuspecting Mr. Borden, and that no less than eighteen had descended upon the skull of Mrs. Borden.

And then I sent records requests to all of the Massachusetts towns where those had happened.

And then sort of above that, I sent them to state agencies that were involved with the investigation, the Massachusetts State Police, the Medical Examiner, the New Hampshire State Police.

And there was mention of the FBI as well.

So I filed a FOIA with them.

Niles Police and the Medical Examiner's Office have confirmed the identities of the two women found earlier this week dead inside a submerged Jeep in the St. Joe River.

They are 24-year-old Vanessa Batista and 23-year-old Alexa Navarro, both of South Bend, who had been missing since Sunday.

Police believe the Jeep went over an embankment near Laurel and South Lincoln Avenue before ending up in the river.

After Teeter calls Neary's death accidental, Cook County takes over the case.

And while I wasn't able to get the file on Neary's death from the Sheriff's Department, I was able to track down former Cook County medical examiner Edmund R. Donahue in Kalamazoo, Michigan at Western Michigan Homer Stryker School of Medicine, where he's now a professor of pathology.

At the time, I was the deputy chief medical examiner of Cook County.

The medical examiner is required by law to investigate deaths that are sudden and unexpected without medical attendance or due to violence, and this would fall under due to violence.

Therapy's biggest impact doesn't show up in some dramatic breakthrough.

It shows up in the smallest moments.
