Mechanix Illustrated

I used to get car magazines.

We used to get Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Mechanics Illustrated.

We had all different magazines.

And that was the new car issue.

You know I love stories.

I was always, from a little kid, reading magazines, car magazines, Popular Mechanics, Mechanics Illustrated, Farm Journal, whatever we got, I was reading.

I wasn't a newspaper reader, and I certainly never owned a comic book in my life, but I was always reading, reading, reading, reading, reading, all right? And the thing I remember back in the early 80s of reading an article in Car and Driver magazine.

And what it was is that one of the editors from Car and Driver went to go work, they spent the day at the GM assembly plant in Norwood, Ohio.

I loved reading and I used to read all old magazines and well, they were old when I was reading them and I also read current magazines at the time.

And I used to read Popular Mechanics, Mechanics Illustrated, Popular Science, Car Craft, Hot Rod, what was it? Super Stock Magazine, Car and Driver, you name it, Motor Trend.

I mean, I had, I was, loved reading.

I loved reading about things.

So, and Tom McCahill, who used to do the automotive parts of Mechanics Illustrated magazine and the road tests, he was the one who back in, I have had an old magazine from the 50s that I think my uncle Chris had that he gave to me.

And Tom McCahill spoke about even back in the 50s when there was hardly any heat soak under the hood.

There was heat soak, but the under hood area was so large that he said that you should always open your hood and let the heat out, especially on a newer car.
