Jay Armstrong JohnsonGUEST

They did the Mean Girls tour together, and so she was able to do it because she's in a play right now, and she's feeling like she wants to sing and dance.
Jay Armstrong JohnsonGUEST
6:48
So she was available for it.
Jay Armstrong JohnsonGUEST

Ian PhippsGUEST

Ian PhippsGUEST
17:20
And we've got four girls who have been going to school for a long time.
Iain YoungGUEST

Jennifer LynnHOST
14:08
You also did Mean Girls on Broadway and the tour.
Iain YoungGUEST
14:11
I did, yes.
Iain YoungGUEST
14:13
I got very lucky, and I did these things where I did the – I did the Broadway production and then I ended up out on a tour.
Iain YoungGUEST
14:19
So just getting my money's worth on all of it.
Jennifer LynnHOST
14:22
Exactly.
Jennifer LynnHOST
14:23
If you could play any role from Mean Girls that you haven't covered, what role would you play?
Iain YoungGUEST
14:28
That I haven't covered? That really narrows it down because that's the thing.
Mickey JoHOST
9:03
Apologies for deadnaming a building.
Mickey JoHOST
9:05
And that, in hindsight, was a foolish thing for me to have asserted because the model that we have seen time and time again recently, we saw it with Frozen, we saw it with Mrs. Doubtfire, from Beetlejuice, from Mean Girls, is for a show to run on Broadway, close on Broadway, downsize for a national tour, rework the material somewhat, Mean Girls did this, Doubtfire did this, Frozen certainly did this, and then open a slightly more definitive, improved production in the West End.
Mickey JoHOST
9:32
Not necessarily when it comes to set design, we actually got a set upgrade for Frozen, but something of a downgrade when it came to shows like Beetlejuice.
Mickey JoHOST
9:40
But often in terms of the show's direction and material, it has been honed somewhat in the years since it first arrived on Broadway.
Mickey JoHOST
13:41
In any case, I do think that this could be very popular with audiences.
Mickey JoHOST
13:44
It's hard to know which intellectual properties, books, films, are really getting people to the box office because I've been surprised on a couple of occasions recently.
Mickey JoHOST
13:54
I'm surprised that Mean Girls didn't sell... for longer and indeed that Beetlejuice never really took off at the Prince Edward meanwhile The Devil Wears Prada seemed to be much more successful I wasn't surprised that Doubtfire was as successful as it was nor Pretty Woman and the notebook as a film property comes from a similar early 2000s place to The Devil Wears Prada And obviously, it's a fairly predictable date night booking.
Mickey JoHOST
14:19
Is it one that families would go and see in the same way? Is it one that tourists would go and see in the same way? I think a certain number of London musical theatre fans who have become aware of the show via Joy Wood's recording of the song My Days, they will certainly be booking their tickets.
Luke WoolleyGUEST
