McIntire School of Commerce

So, uh, and some of this may go into a little detail beyond what you might expect, but let me assure you, there's a reason for me giving you that detail.

So, uh, but to start, I'm a nineteen eighty graduate of the McIntire School of Commerce, uh, which is the undergraduate business school at UVA, uh, which is also very, very highly rated.

I'm originally from the Northeast.

I'm a ver-- first-generation college student, oldest to seven kids, and I transferred from Rutgers, the state university in New Jersey.

Uh, how I got to UVA is even beyond that, uh, hard to believe, but maybe we can touch base a little bit on that.

When I graduated from, uh, McIntire, now I'm dating myself, there were a Big Eight accounting firms, and I, I was-- knew I wanted to be an accountant.

So, uh, I basically, coming out of McIntire, went to a firm called Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co.

That still exists today.

It's important to us as, you know, as we think about that MSBA program for folks to feel that connection to the main university.

You're not just a Darden alum, you're not just a McIntire alum, you're also a UVA alum.

Absolutely.

Well, tell us a little bit more about your background.

Yeah.

Um, the UVA program, it sounds like you had a personal connection, somebody who, who had done the program that you, you knew, but what is it about the program in particular that appealed to you?

Yeah, I mean, uh, in addition to having the personal connections, I thought that, like, kind of it being, uh, held through a dual school program, right? It was a dual degree, being, um, both under Darden as well as McIntire, because you not only get, like, the resources from both universities, you get the professors, right? Um, and coming from industry, academia, also the, uh, you know, the alumni network, of course, um, from both.

And also, like, the, the collaboration with, like, programs from both, uh, different, uh, schools, right? So there's MS and, MS and IT that's under McIntire, as well as all of the different, uh, MBA programs and the AMBA program under Darden.
