The focus was on can they verbally do it out loud because it takes a different set of skills.
Janae DanielsHOST
8:01
and can they process it in their brain and then verbally do it out loud with the McGuffey readers today? Even as my daughter and I were going over McGuffey readers, we got to the spelling list and I had her verbally spell out all the words, right? She didn't write them down.

Did y'all not do literature analysis as we think of in public school? Did you just read to your kids? Did you assign books to them to read independently? Did you have some kids who you just read to and they didn't do much other reading besides that even though they could read? and then i wrote back i read to i read to my children as a group and they are expected to read books independently at least 30 minutes daily we also go through the mcguffey readers she followed up with when you say go through do you mean you just have them read them do you do anything else with them besides that like sherry's lesson book What do they read for 30 minutes per day? Books they chose? Books you assign? If you assign them, then what are the topics? Do you have them write about them or just read and discuss or just read? The first thing that we do is read aloud.
Janae DanielsHOST
2:02

Janae DanielsHOST
15:34
And then once they're often reading on their own for pleasure, like my now 18-year-old daughter who reads nonstop, They 100%, at that point, when they're older, they choose all the texts that they want once I know that the comprehension is there.
Janae DanielsHOST
15:48
The third thing that we do for reading comprehension is we use the McGuffey Readers.
Janae DanielsHOST
