PFC Dennis Eugene Abbott killed in action in Vietnam.

The Fulton Democrat received a letter this Tuesday, which PFC Abbott wrote this past Wednesday, in which he expressed the importance of the hometown newspaper and good magazines for servicemen so far from home.

Funeral arrangements with full military honors and burial in Gettysburg National Military Cemetery are being made for PFC Dennis Abbott, who was killed in action last Thursday morning in South Vietnam.

PFC Abbott, 22, became the first Fulton County's first of Fulton County's men to make the supreme sacrifice in the Vietnam War.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Abbott of North 4th Street, McConnellsburg, learned of their son's death by personal envoy from the Letterkenny Arnold Depot on Friday.

The telegram from Washington confirming the death said that the infantrymen, a member of the 25th Infantry Division, died of wounds inflicted by shrapnel and exchange of grenades and small arms fire with the enemy before dawn on the defense perimeter around the base of Pleiku.
