Massive flop.

Absolutely massive flop.

Which is funny because it reminded me of watching Short Cards by Robert Altman where I was just like, for half of that movie, I was like, I have no idea what the hell you guys are talking about.

Or even parts of McCabe and Mrs. Miller.

Um, or it's some Cassavetes films as well, where it just like, like, I mean, it, it, it gives the film layers where on the one hand, like you're like, you can still actually enjoy and sort of understand it without saying to each other, but once you do it, it adds a sort of depth.

I always wondered

I think you introduced me to a lot of Altman stuff too.

I mean, I know like we're going to talk about long goodbye later, but that one definitely, and probably McCabe and Mrs. Miller.

I remember you were sort of really, you know, love those movies and I think got me into them.

Um, you know, this one, I, I always thought its reputation was that it was one of his weakest pictures.

Um, you know, and I liked that it just wasn't just used for jump scares.

Um, you know, cause I mean, it's a horror, but it's not scary.

I think when, you know, you see Altman using the zoom and mash and McCabe and Mrs. Miller, it's, he's trying to draw your attention to something.

And in this case, he's trying to alter your perceptions or throw you off a little bit, a lot of the time.

This guy has been in so many things.

If you were a Robert Altman fan, you'll recognize him from a three-movie run of MASH, Brewster McCloud, and McCabe and Mrs. Miller.

All of those movies kick ass, by the way.

So he was doing real Oscar-nominated movies in the 70s, and then he did literally anything after that.

That's probably one of my favourites.

Brother loves that movie.

Explain how they got that little haze over the image.

And lenses, I mean, and that is definitely something you shouldn't be thinking about when you're watching the movie.

Absolutely.

But it's something to think about after, you know, and McCabe and Mrs. Miller, they did use they used I think they used foggers and filters to make it give it that smoky, hazy look, which then became a signature of that era of the 70s era.

Which a lot of people, especially like Sofia Coppola, loves to use that kind of hazy, filmy, 70s look.
