It's just two guys all these years.

They had more members on their first album, and then as they transitioned into black metal, it just really became... um Fenris and Nocturnal Culto and they don't tour and Black Metal you know Euronymous from Mayhem also a pioneer who um is dead now who was murdered which we'll get into that a little bit too here as we talk about this because there's a lot of criminal activity around the Black Metal scene but um They wanted to create a genre of music that turned people away.

They didn't want popularity.

They didn't want fame.

You know what I mean? Other than it's heavy.

And those all started to branch off into death metal and black metal, and they became genres.

But now we're kind of back at, like for black metal, the second wave, which was like Mayhem and Dark Throne and Emperor and some of these bands.

Nathan Gale, a deranged fan, rushed onto the stage as the band played the first song of their setlist and shot damn big Darryl Abbott multiple times with a Beretta 92FS and 9mm semi-automatic pistol, killing him instantly.

The band's head of security, Jeffrey Mayhem Thompson, then tackled Gale, but was fatally shot in the ensuing struggle.

A fan, Nathan Bray, was also killed as he attempted to aid Abbott and Thompson, as was Aaron Hayek, an employee of the venue who tried to disarm Gale while he was reloading.

Three others were wounded before Columbus Police Officer James Niggemeier entered the club and shot Gale once in the head with a 12-gauge Remington Model 870, killing him.

Two marriages to singer Rene Armand and dancer Jill Barbary both ended in divorce.

He is survived by his daughter.

Varge Vikertens became one of the most infamous figures in Norwegian black metal history because of his involvement in a series of church arsons and the murder of fellow musician Øystein Eraths, better known as Uranimus, of Mayhem.

Between 1992 and 1993, several churches in Norway were targeted by arsonists, including, sorry for the mispronunciation here, Holman Colon Chapel, Scold Church, and Essayne Church.

That month, Oistin had asked Varg to drop off some contracts.

All three men were members of the same black metal group, Mayhem.

But the tensions between Varg and Oyston had become unbearable at this point.

They both had developed an infamous reputation with Oistin circulating disturbing photos he took of a deceased former band member and Varg being at the center of several church arsons in Norway, all in the name of promoting black metal.

We could never have achieved this level of pure chaos without them.

But today we're going to be digging into a very dark and disturbing story.
