I'm begging the Marlins to hold on to Sandy Alcantara, to hold on to Otto Lopez, to hold on to Max Meyer, Xavier Edwards, Kyle Stowers, Araberto Hernandez, Javier Sanoja, and let's build this thing up.
J

Obviously, you're not going to be able to keep everyone from one year to another, but try to keep the core here together and give these fans something to grasp onto.

J

In this particular series, I really cannot off the top of my head remember that many times where they've had three straight guys that poor enough to put them out of the game and you know to the Marlins credit they kept all those games kind of close despite that starting pitching just sticking up the joint
I
9:12Isaac AzoutPANELIST
yeah I mean it's not very often that you see 31 runs scored against a pitching staff in one series and you're sort of getting away with it with really having two legitimate starting pitchers in the rotation between sandy and yuri you know they were just really praying and hoping with the rest of them giving the interview to max meyer giving the chris paddocks dfa and no real options other than you know robbie stelling who unfortunately also underwent elbow surgery so they were really just patching this together and they were getting away with it for the most part and even when those guys were pitching well they wouldn't let them go deep into games and it was working for the most part Until they sort of everything, all the luck sort of hit a wall here towards late August, early September, where unfortunately it's getting to the bullpen.
I
9:51Isaac AzoutPANELIST
It's getting to the starting pitchers.
I
9:52Isaac AzoutPANELIST
It's getting to Sandy even.

And it's been one of the worst bullpens in baseball during that stretch of time.
E
16:42Eli SussmanHOST
anyway yeah
I
16:43Isaac AzoutPANELIST
and and i think it's we got to add max meyer making one start following the all-star game and just going on the aisle with the next one and never coming back he has resumed throwing but obviously it's much too late for him to make any sort of return especially with the team seemingly heading for the exit and then another name i'll throw out leo jimenez was on the scene for a very long time and i think you could put some of the blame on that their second half struggle to him because he got a lot of playing time in the month of july in the month of august irrationally so.
I
17:11Isaac AzoutPANELIST
He was playing almost every single day at third base and really hurting the team both defensively, offensively.
FINAL NAIL: Miami Marlins’ INSANE Comeback FALLS SHORT—Has The Playoff Window CLOSED?
J
13:41Jamie GoldmanHOST
They have three – You know, grade A, grade B starters that I can trust on any given day that can go up against anyone in the league that I trust to go out there and give me at the very least a quality start.
J
13:55Jamie GoldmanHOST
Those three guys being Sandy Alcantara, Uri Perez, and Max Meyer.
J
14:00Jamie GoldmanHOST
So I'll go down the list here.
J
14:01Jamie GoldmanHOST
We'll start with Sandy.
J
17:04Jamie GoldmanHOST
There's no denying Uri has the stuff.
J
17:06Jamie GoldmanHOST
We just need to see it a little bit more consistently.
J
17:09Jamie GoldmanHOST
But going into a season when you have Sandy Alcantara and Max Meyer next to you, I very much trust and believe in Uri Perez heading into next year, which brings me to Max.
J
17:22Jamie GoldmanHOST
Easily the best results of the three pitchers this season, believe it or not.

And Perez, he's a big looming question for this Marlins team moving forward.
J
7:24Jamie GoldmanHOST
You know, the Marlins view Uri Perez as a pillar of this baseball team moving forward, a guy like a Sandy Alcantara, a guy like a Max Meyer.
J
7:33Jamie GoldmanHOST
I believe they look at those three, really Sandy and Uri, ahead of Max as – the rotational guys, those pieces in your rotation that you're going to bring back next season and kind of, how do I say, foundational pieces for this Marlins team moving forward.
J
7:54Jamie GoldmanHOST

So I think all three of those guys need to be a 2027 staple on Dodgers roster.
R

And then I'll add one, too, just because I can't be shown up, and that is Max Meyer.
R
11:08Ryan ChristensenHOST
Max Meyer was great.
R
11:09Ryan ChristensenHOST
Max Meyer, although he wasn't as kind of electric as Gavin Williams was, Max Meyer was a really, really solid piece that contributed to Dodger leading the league in quality starts for the year, I think.
J
11:20Josh BuysHOST
yeah the last stat you just mentioned is was kind of wild that dodger how many quality starts that dodger got this year
R
11:26Ryan ChristensenHOST
yeah it was those guys right it was meyer yamamoto it was gavin williams i mean sandy was a staple in that too so he had all those guys like and and i i we say we've said it over and over and i think this year uh you know more certainly especially with the the run at the end was it's like the the team's core is good it's just you know a little bit of unluck and a and a couple extra pieces in the offseason, and I think he'd be right back in the mix, but in a healthier spot in that mix.
