So, of course, I'm thinking about the Genoa music that Mehdi Nasouli brings from Morocco, and I'm thinking about Mauro Durante's music from the south of Italy, the Taranta and Pizzica.

I think it's a lot more challenging as a free improvisationist because I think there's a lot of self-consciousness that comes along with it.

And it feels like there are too many choices.

I'm a musician.

I play the violin and the tamburello frame drums.

Also, I'm the artistic director of a Italian, uh, world music or traditional music band called Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino.

I grew up inside the tradition of, uh, the music of my land, which nowadays is known as, uh, pizzica, a form of the Southern Italian tarantella.

Mauro Durante is someone I've known for a few years.
